People
A 2nd generation panel beater, Joe was born into the family business in St Helens, a staunch Rugby League town in the North West of England. The unexpected passing of his father in 1992 saw him take the reins of the family business at the age of 23 as the UK market was going through major transition. Accepting and adapting to new service demands and requirements saw the business flourish. Joe continued to grow and expand the site, and as the industry moved towards the consolidating groups that had formed, he had to once again steer the business through uncharted waters. Diversifying work supply whilst constantly investing in his staff, their training and equipment saw the business continually improve its sales, margins and profitability and become one of the largest most successful independent panel shops in the UK.
A structured exit strategy in 2009 enabled Joe to move his family to the Gold Coast, having achieved entrepreneurial sponsorship from the Queensland Government to develop a consolidated accident repair business. Once here, he joined forces with the team behind Gemini in the UK, and started Gemini Australia. Having established himself as the Operational Leader of the business over the coming years, he was to be the spearhead of the company as it entered new markets. Being an integral member of the Executive Team has exposed Joe to the strategies and needs of growing a National business, whilst enhancing his own strengths in people and process management. Understanding the different stages of the growth and the systems and processes required will play a critical part in Joes role at Sherdley, where he will share his unique knowledge with like minded business owners and offer bespoke solutions to their individual needs.
